The device also apparently has soft-touch paint on the touchpad and around the keyboard, to prevent the accumulation of smudges and fingerprints. Lugging around the laptop is not a problem, even though the charging cable and the adapter are a bit on the bulky side. It weighs three kilograms, but is sleek enough to fit in large-ish laptop bags. The display is a vibrant and bright 17.3 inch WQHD IPS panel with a refresh rate of 240Hz and a response time of three milliseconds. The Aura Sync section in the Armoury Crate software allows you to specify the lighting for the keys, down to the individual level.

The function keys are a bit difficult to find in the dark initially, because the F numbers are not backlit, but you quickly get used to the icons and remember them. The trackpad is large and allows for plenty of room to move the fingers. The metallic ROG logo on the back is backlit, which is not too over the top. (Image Credit: News9/Aditya Madanapalle). The design flourishes are not over-the-top. In any case, the device supports up to 64 GB of RAM. This should not be an issue with the devices that hit the stores. I didn’t think it was possible, but this thing even managed to provide the best experience I ever had with a two decade old title, Quake III Arena. I was also able to Alt+Tab between multiple titles. The laptop also did not heat up much at all, and was able to handle everything I threw at it, at the highest settings, without struggling. The loading times for all the games were much shorter. One game that my previous laptop struggled with was Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, especially in the combat sequences. I installed a whole bunch of games before doing anything else.
