To record: After clicking the play button, you may click the "record" button. Since digital audio is not really a pure smooth wave (imagine pixels in an image but instead on a waveform), these differences between bits must be smoothed out. Extreme sound stretching works by piping audio through an algorithm which generally averages out the waveform and smooths the difference.
